Objects for plants, is a range of containers made designed by Nicolas Bovesse with Claude Aïello, a ceramicist of Italian origin settled in France, at Vallauris of pottery fame. These objects are the outcome of many discussions between designer and craftsman; the latter’s skill has performed miracles. From a lump of earth a dream suddenly emerges… These containers are the result of searching how best to present single flowers, bunches of flowers and pot plants.

Nicolas Bovesse came to Brussels and set up his own design studio after two internships in Paris, one with Radi Designers and the other with Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. A key feature of his work is his determination to give meaning to objects. That is how he structures his research and turns the usual typologies upside down in order to question the human element. His precise lines and graphics conceal a quantity of signs which cast a contemplative eye on our contemporary society… Each design has involved lengthy research into the codes, forms, functions, history and time. In his studio is an enormous table covered with prototypes, scale models, sketches, drawings and samples, which are just waiting to be translated into designs. The studio teems with ideas. Scenarios are written. A concept takes shape. A form comes into being. An object is born.
