Fashion label AF Vandevorst has teamed up with Hoet Bekaert Gallery to launch ‘Gustav’ – a pop-up store to fashion, furniture, jewellery and ART. The place is located in the Belgian seaside resort of Knokke-Heist.

The sculptor Antoine Van Loocke has been crafting knives and accessories with patient mastery for a number of years now.

He draws his inspiration from nature. Rare materials such as buffalo horn, foam or coral reveal a huge respect for natural diversity. However, the pieces created are not simply for show. Following the less is more principle, his designs always get down to the essence of a knife. They are functional, robust utensils to be picked up and put to the test.

The Belgian architectural firm dmvA designed the blob VB3, a smooth white structure that resembles a hard boiled egg, as a mobile office for xfactoragencies.

Initially, they intended to design an extension for the Xfactoragencies office, but the planned designs were repeatedly rejected by local building regulations. So, they decided to create a ‘mobile’ office which skirted around the strict building codes.

The project took 18 months and the structure is predominantly made of polyester.

The last 7 years I’ve seen many invisible bookshelves.
This one dates from 2000. Not sure but seems Pol Quadens was one of the first to feature the invisible library.
Ovo editions brought it into the wild.
What I like about this one that it doesn’t have the typical vertical form. Making it horizontal, is also raising the bar technically, as it really isn’t that simple to hang it on the wall. Simplicity in form, but complexity in technique.

It’s a vase, it’s a sculpture..
Cutting is a floor-standing vase consisting of 3 narrow adjustable tubes with linking-piece. Both height and area at ground level may be adjusted by altering the position of the tubes.

Made from a moulded textured plastic, the ‘Torch Light‘ comes in three versions: the small cone, the small rounded and the large cone. All sizes can be suspended from the ceiling in single units, arranged in bunches of 10 or 20, or used singularly on a tabletop or in the corner of a room. ‘Torch Light’, like much of Sylvain’s work, is inspired by archetypal objects – in this case, the simple silhouette of a typical hand-held torch or car headlight. ‘Torch Light’ is offered in three different colours, including black.

“This is how I like to think of objects. What would they be like as shadows? How can they be normal and recognisable, yet slightly sophisticated and elegant? It’s playful, graphic- like an icon.”
